Season Ends, League In Limbo

Feb 2, 2015 - With the North Houston Wood Bat League hanging on by a thread, the season was ultimately canceled amid a dizzying amount of forfeits, postponements and cancellations. What was a strong 8 team league just a year ago has turned into a 3 team league with not enough players to keep each team at full strength. Teams borrowing players from other teams just to be able to play a game ultimately were not able to sustain themselves competitively. For those and many other reasons, the Spring Cyclones have decided to join the mother ship Houston Hardball League 30+ Divisio nfor the Spring 2015 season.

Generals Quiet Cyclones Bats

Jan 26, 2015 - Shannon Morgan started for the Spring Cyclones and went the distance in a close game but ultimately, the Generals emerged victorious over the Cyclones for the third time this season. While the Cyclones were able to get 9 hits, they just weren't able to put it together enough to score more than the 2 runs they ultimately scored.  Conversely, Morgan tossed 8 innings allowing 4 runs, only 1 was earned, on 7 hits, 2 walks and striking out 2.

Cyclones Win By Forfeit, Again

Generals Steamroll Cyclones

Dec 15, 2014 - After scoring 17 runs just 3 nights prior, the Cyclones on Sunday gave up almost as many runs as they scored on Thursday. Playing shorthanded and without key players, the Cyclones, while being able to muster 6 runs, just could not contain the Generals on Sunday as starting pitcher Dean Cosme allowed 16 runs to score and took the 16-6 loss.

Offensive Explosion

Dec 12, 2014 - After more than a month off between rainouts and tournament postponements, the Cyclones took the field Thursday night in a crossover game with the Houston Hardball League and exploded for 17 runs against an underwhelming and overmatched Houston Twins team. Every player in the lineup had at least 1 hit and scored at least 1 run with the biggest night coming from a borrowed player (Thanks Marauders!) and starting pitcher Shannon Morgan. Joel from the Marauders went 5-6 with 1 run scored and 4 RBI, while Shannon went 3-6 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI.  Shannon also pitched a complete game, hurling 8 innings of 1 run ball walking only 1 while striking out 7 Twins on the night. Final scopre on the night was 17-1.

Generals Quiet Cyclones Bats

Oct 27, 2014 - The Cyclones took on the Generals on Sunday and their bats were relatively quiet. Despite reaching base on 6 hits and 6 walks, the Cyclones were not able to string together more than 3 runs on the day and ultimately succumbed to the Generals 5-3.

Cosme, Cyclones Top Zephyrs 7-6

Oct 20, 2014 - Manager Dean Cosme started on the mound for the Cyclones and held the Spring Zephyrs to only 6 runs (4 earned) on 12 hits and 3 walks, while also striking out 6 over 8 innings to earn a rare win over the Zephyrs. Offensively, newcomer Andy Perez went 2-5 with a double and an RBI.

Cyclones Win By Forfeit

New Season, Same Results: Cyclones Shut Out In Opener

Oct 6, 2014 - Many of the same problems that plagued the Cyclones last season reared it's ugly head again this Fall season.  No hitting and less than stellar defense led to a 12-0 walloping at the hands of the Blue Beavers.  The game started with Mgr/Starting Pitcher Dean Cosme giving up a lead off HR and it never got better from there.
